Description
Discover the refreshing character of Russian White Peppermint Lidya. This mint variety, with its sweet, nearly chocolatey, scent thrives in warmer climates, being a little tender for UK climates. Ideal for teas, culinary uses, and as a reliable garden herb. However the name Lidya is confusing. Having tried to ascertain why it is known as a Russian White peppermint, I had wondered whether it was another floral myth about the Russian pilot ace Lydia Litvyak who purportedly had a white flower painted on her plane. But some sources suggest it has Ukrainian origins. Im off the mind that is more likely that it hails from Lidya, the western region of modern-day Turkey, which would connect it with other mints from that part of the mediteranean, that it closely resembles, namely Cyprus mint and Dionysus mint. Wherever it hails from it adds a touch of gentle, sweet mintiness, to your outdoor space, and is great for soups and salads particularly.
