Our Strategy

Environmental

We’re rooted in sustainable growing – and committed to protecting the genetic diversity of mentha through our work as a National Plant Collection holder under the stewardship of Plant Heritage. This role shapes how we grow: from peat-free compost and hand tools to careful propagation, organic methods, and strict biosecurity. We don’t just grow mint – we steward it. Each variety we hold is documented, nurtured, and protected for future generations.

Our low-carbon nursery is chemical-free, pollinator-friendly, and designed with biodiversity in mind. We’re working towards a net-zero future by embracing regenerative growing, closed-loop systems, and climate-conscious plant shows that leave no trace but inspiration.

Social

People and plants thrive together. That’s why Mintopia works closely with schools, communities, and wellbeing projects to grow ‘be-longing’ alongside biodiversity. Our ‘intmintmint Biodiversity Challenge’ empowers young growers to care for rare varieties while learning about ecosystems, climate, and creativity. We’re committed to supporting mental health, social inclusion, and environmental education in everything we do – from sensory gardens in schools to cups of mint tea in muddy boots.

Governance

As a recognised National Plant Collection holder, Mintopia is guided by the principles and standards set by Plant Heritage, including best practice in curation, record keeping, plant health, and ethical stewardship. We try to foreground altruism, but Mintopia is a business, so we take governance seriously – built around trust, care, and transparent relationships.

Our team brings together experience in education, research, horticulture, and community organising. We work in networks rather than hierarchies, co-producing projects with schools, growers, and partners who share our values. Our governance grows, like our mint, through careful attention to roots, conditions, and future resilience.

Quality

Every plant we grow carries a story. From the provenance of our cuttings to the educational resources we co-create, we believe quality lies in attention, trust, and growing with purpose. We don’t mass produce. We grow thoughtfully, sustainably, and with a fierce love for variety. Whether you’re working with us on a school garden or buying a single pot of pineapple mint, we’ll do our best to make it exceptional.
